Pathetic things Adults Get Excited About

Pathetic things Adults Get Excited About!

1. Fancy kitchen gadgets - every infomercial about the latest and greatest blender gets your full attention. That cool little sandwich cutter? Gotta have it!

2. Sales - Everyone who buys their own stuff can get excited about a sale. When you KNOW you have to buy a new pirate costume every year for the Gasparilla parade, you'll squeal with delight when you see them on sale. Same with kids shoes, or any shoes! Kids don't appreciate sales. All they want is that $50 Build-A-Bear they'll play with for 1 day. Why? Because they ain't payin'!

3. Checking things off a to-do list. It could be cleaning the baseboards...a.k.a. the worst thing ever! But, once it gets on that to-do it's bound to get done. Why? For the satisfaction of crossing that sucker off!

4. Chores - Chores can be like therapy. I don't know who I am when I say "can you watch the kids while I go pick weeds?" It's like I'm ALMOST excited to get out and pick weeds.

5. Bowel movements - Did you ever think about what you actually just did after cheering and high-fiving your toddler about pooping? You're cheering about poop! Enough said.

6. Small achievements - who has hopped up and down clapping like a seal when your kid scores a goal...during practice. Or let out a loud satisfactory sigh after getting the pickle jar open?

7. Super Target - is anything more enjoyable than walking around target?

8. No plans - having no plans is the holy grail of chill mode. When you wake up on a morning and realize you don't have anything on the calendar, it's a moment of bliss.

9. Dinner without kids - you can finish a meal? You can take your first bite of food without first filling up a sippy cup, cutting chicken into little pieces, or blowing on mac n cheese to cool it down?

10. Conversations - I'm talking about the ones about living room rugs, 401ks, work, and history. Anything that doesn't involve the latest Disney show. Who are we?!

11. Drive thru's- you pass by Panera and think "oh I could really go for a You-Pick-two right now" then you notice that Panera has a drive thru! Then you catch yourself trying to twerk in your seat pulling into Panera.

12. Clean windows - these last for a total of 0.6 seconds so you have to sit back and admire them for that split second. When you first clean them you stare at them with your head tilted to one side and silly smile on your face. Then your kid slams itself against it leaving oatmeal handprints behind. You shrug your shoulders and think "until next time..."

13. Desserts!  When you're an adult you can't keep a bunch of desserts and sweets in your house. You either don't want your kid eating them all the time, or you don't want yourself eating them all the time. So, when I'm really craving something sweet, and I find the last ice cream bar in the freezer...

14. When your other half gets home from work - When you hear them pull in the driveway you yell "Kids! Daddy's hommmmmeeee!" So they all run over to the door and wait to jump on him while you sit on the couch for 2 uninterrupted minutes.
What is a little/pathetic thing that gets you so excited you could dance?! Please share!

10 things I Love about November

Now that we're halfway through November (ALREADY?!?!), it's time to talk about everything I love about this glorious month!

10 Things I Love About November

Weather – November in Florida means 70-80 degree weather…almost to perfection. Yesterday it was sunny and hot (at 80 degrees), but today it's been rainy and cold (68 degrees). Best of both worlds.

Boots – November gives us a reason to wear anything other than flip flops. Bring out the boots and warm fuzzy socks! From combat, ankle, to knee high boots. They're all so wonderful!
Shop Boots at DSW

Leftover Halloween Candy on the cheap - this candy might already be gone off the shelves by now, but last week I picked up 2 bags of chocolate for a little over a dollar. This same bag was well over $10 a couple weeks ago. Suckers.

Movies – November always brings the good movies out. Dumb & Dumber To and the MockingJay Part 1 are two big ones this month!

Facebook Thankful posts – while we should most definitely be thankful all year round, these thankful posts are a nice break from people bitchin' about traffic, drama, baby not sleeping, and work.
How many people actually do all 30?

Jackets & scarves– I love a good jacket and a scarf is such a fun accessory to keep us warm. They actually may be my two favorite clothing items. Probably because we only get to wear them for a short time.
I love this lady! (The HoneyBee)

Thanksgiving – Bring on the food, friends, family, and football! I’m thankful for being able to go into food coma every year.

Shopping – Christmas shopping officially starts! I've vowed to do most my Christmas shopping from independent shops this year! A fun way to give back to small businesses and the community.

Starbucks Holiday Drinks – We were one of the counties that got to “test” Chestnut Praline Lattes last year. It’s so good, you almost want to take a picture of the red cup they put it in…but I think enough people are doing that, so please restrain yourself.
But they're so pretty! <3

No Shave November/Movember – the month where men vow not to shave in order to raise awareness about men's health issues and look good doing it! Whether you have a beard or mustache, there are official rules for that facial hair! Movember Rules // Noshember Rules

10 Halloween Must Haves

This year Halloween has consumed the whole month of October. It's slowly become one of those holidays that is celebrated all month long. We went to Halloween events last weekend for goodness sake! Am I supposed to buy 4 different costumes for each kid or just let them wear the same one every weekend?? Good thing we have plenty of princess dresses and other dress up clothes to use as costumes. I'm not one to buy more than one costume a year. It just seems over excessive and unnecessary, ALTHOUGH the costumes do get used all year round in our house. Heck, Sophia was just dressed up in her pirate costume we bought TWO years ago for Gasparilla. Money well spent.

Halloween is more than just about costumes though. You can't just stick on a costume and call it a day. You have to create the mood and get into the spirit a little bit! Or not...you're choice! ;)

10 Halloween Must Haves

1. Kid Costumes - for those who have kids. Goodness these are cute!

2. Adult Costumes - feeling festive?!

3. Non Costumes - for the lazy or those seeking comfort over award winning

4. Pumpkins - There are so many different ways to decorate a pumpkin! (Look for a post early next week!)

5. Music - Thriller never gets old. You should probably go ahead and learn the dance too

6. Beer - Pumpkin Beer to be exact. Gotta get it while it's here!

7. Food - Get off Pinterest and just order some pizza (never fails), or just totally ignore me and spend hours making these.

8. Shoes - If you're going trick or treating, you'll need a good pair of shoes and who doesn't want a pair of orange Nikes? Freshly Picked moccasins are always a must for the kids.

9. Movies - You don't have to be scared out of your mind for it to be a good Halloween movie! (I hate scary movies) Hocus Pocus & The Addams Family are great for the whole family!

10. Ice Hand - last but certainly not least! If you're having people over you absolutely must put an ice hand in your punch. Consider your party/gathering a total fail if you don't. ;)
