Five Reasons You Need A Vacation

When Sophia was little, well she's still little, but I'm talking about when she was our one and only, we went on numerous vacations.

Sophia was our little jet-setter, going to places like Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

Then we had a second child and our vacations came to a screeching halt.

Of course, this wasn't the direct result of having a second child. The main reason our vacations dwindled was because we started two businesses that needed our attention basically 24/7.

Now that our businesses are able to survive days without us, we are building a home so a lot of funds are being put in that new home bucket.

There will always be something going on in life that says "You can't leave now", "You shouldn't spend that money", or "You should do this instead of that".

I am one to fully understand that vacations are important in life, while my husband is a little less understanding. I'd say he's on the verge of workaholic. Just kidding...maybe. I honestly just think it's the entrepreneur in him. He's 100% entrepreneur and always has been. It's a good thing! Except when it's time for a vacation. He's getting better but the first thing out of his mouth is, "Can't we just go for a long weekend instead?" Anything over 4 days freaks him out.

Whether they are stay-cations or European tours, getting away from work and "every day life" is important. For ourselves and for our relationships.

Five Reasons You Need A Vacation

1. Vacations are a natural Medicine.
This doesn't mean much until you're standing on top of a mountain or on a shore looking out at a sunset. That's when you get it. You breath is fresh air and you look at the world in a different light. Read: 10 Reasons Why Nature is the Best Medicine

2. Studies show that you are more productive after vacation
The week at work after a vacation is the best time at work for me. Still on that vacation high and ready to conquer the world... or that stack of papers on your desk.

3. Work or Money does not lead to life satisfaction.
The thrill of a promotion, new purse, or a new home goes away...quickly. Think about the most memorable, happy days of your life or the pictures you put into photo albums. Mine include my family, holidays, and vacations. Not pictures from the office.

4. Expand Your Mind
Whether you visit a new state or country, see a concert, or try a new cuisine, doing something different, new, and out of your normal routine is like therapy.

5. Regrets
"Nobody on his deathbed ever said 'I wish I had spent more time at the office' - Paul Tsongas. You may naturally regret some things in life, like NOT taking time off of work and NOT going on more trips with friends and family.

And THAT my friends, is how to be al2getherFIT! :)

XOXO

  2. I 100% agree with this! We used to only take long weekends. After our honeymoon I realized that life is still there when we got back and I was really refreshed and ready to tackle work again!
